CAMP PENDLETON — Fifteen Marines involved in an amphibious assault training exercise at the seaside base were hospitalized Wednesday, Sept. 13, according to Marine Corps officials.
The accident involving an amphibious assault vehicle happened around 9:33 a.m. and included Marines from the 1st Marine Division who were doing a routine training at the time, said 1st Lt. Paul Gainey. The accident happened as the vehicle was on land.
All Marines are currently being treated for unspecified injuries at various area hospitals.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Marines and their families as they receive medical care,” he said.
Officials are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident at this time.
