Chamber to name Kansas Citian of the Year Tuesday evening

The Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce will announce its Kansas Citian of the Year Award at its annual dinner Tuesday evening.

Last year, the Kansas City area’s highest honor for civic leadership went to Donald J. Hall Jr., CEO of Hallmark Cards Inc. based in Kansas City.

Three other Hall family members had received the award, including his parents Hallmark chairman Donald J. Hall in 1972 and civic leader Adele Hall in 1990 and his grandfather Hallmark founder Joyce C. Hall in 1961.

Previous winners include Robert Regnier, Tom Watson, James and Virginia Stowers, Thomas McDonnell, Shirley and Barnett Helzberg, The Rev. Emanuel Cleaver, R. Crosby Kemper Jr., James B. Nutter Sr., Phil Kirk, Greg Graves and Leo Morton.
