Former Bishop Miege player Bol Bol has announced the next stop of his basketball career: Oregon.
The five-star recruit announced his commitment to the Ducks, who beat Kansas in the Elite Eight in March, in a piece for The Players’ Tribune on Monday. He had offers from 11 Division I programs.
Bol is the top-ranked center and third-best player in the nation, according to 247Sports.
“It came down to Oregon and Kentucky — which is kind of funny that it was those two schools. Because when I was a kid, after my family moved to Kansas, everyone on my AAU teams and school teams was a Jayhawks fan,” Bol wrote. “As someone who likes to do his own thing — and yeah, troll a little bit — I always rooted for Kentucky. In Kansas, cheering for the Wildcats is like against the law.”
Bol, the son of former NBA center Manute Bol, moved to Olathe as a child. He played his freshman and sophomore seasons at Miege, won a Class 4A Division I title and spent time on the AAU circuit with KC Run GMC. He received scholarship offers from Kansas and Creighton, among others, before he left Miege last fall.
