Former Boston Red Sox pitcher Mike Timlin was at the country music festival in Las Vegas at the center of a deadly shooting overnight that claimed the lives of at least 50 people and sent more than 400 others to area hospitals.
Timlin posted to his Twitter account that he was at the Route 91 Harvest Festival, which was taking place across the street from the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, where the shooter was located on the 32nd floor shooting down at concertgoers.
Timlin said “please pray for all who have been wounded. All my group is ok #Godisalmighty.”
Timlin pitched for the Red Sox between 2003 and 2008, his last year in Major League Baseball.
The shooter has been identified as Stephen Paddock of Mesquite, Nevada. Authorities say he died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
