Masked man robs Placentia motel


A masked man on Friday afternoon robbed a Placentia motel at gunpoint, police said Saturday.

Placentia officers at about 5:40 p.m. responded to reports of an armed robbery at the Residence Inn Motel in the 700 block of West Kimberly Avenue, according to a police statement.

A man with his face covered and holding a handgun walked into the lobby of the motel, demanded money from a clerk at the front desk, then ran out the front doors with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

The clerk was not injured.

Police described the man as being about 5-foot-10, wearing a red mask and a gray sweatshirt. Security footage from the robbery was released by authorities on Saturday afternoon.
