Monday afternoon officials said that legendary rocker Tom Petty was in critical condition at a local hospital after he suffered full cardiac arrest at his Malibu home Sunday night.
After some misleading information that led people to believe that the musician was pulled off life support and pronounced dead earlier in the day, his death was confirmed later just before 9 p.m. by his longtime manager. He was 66.
Upon initial news of his death earlier in the day, celebrities and fellow musicians took to Twitter to post tributes to the singer. After official news of his death broke, more musicians and celebrities posted condolences and remembrances.
Sending love to Tom Petty and his family at this difficult time.

One of the most iconic uses of music to film is Tom Petty’s “Free Fallin” in Jerry Maguire. That’s all of us. What a legend.
