Small quake shakes Cherry Valley area in Southern California

BEAUMONT — A magnitude-3.2 earthquake struck 4.2 miles northeast of Beaumont in the Cherry Valley area at 9:39 p.m. Friday, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The earthquake’s depth was five kilometers (3.1 miles).

The area is north of Interstate 10, between Beaumont and Banning.

Police in Banning said they felt the quake at headquarters, but had received no reports of injuries or damage.
