Tom Brady hopes for an improved attitude against Saints

FOXBORO — Tom Brady, and several other Patriots, referenced a lack of energy and general lackluster attitude in the team’s season-opening loss to the Kansas City Chiefs last Thursday night.

During Wednesday’s press conference, the ability to improve in that area was the main theme.

Brady did not offer any promises on the subject.

“We’ll see,” the quarterback said. “Sunday’s the important day. We have two more days to prepare. Three more days and two more days of practice. We’ll see.”

The 42-27 setback to the Chiefs was disheartening in many respects, but the lack of fight the Pats referenced after seemed to be the most pressing concern. When asked if that characteristic can be altered over the course of the season, Brady preached accountability as the key focus.

“The coaches put a lot of pressure on us,” Brady said. “Veteran players and leaders put a lot of pressure on you because you’re trying to perform at a very high level. When you get beat the way we got beat, I think that sat with everyone for a very long time. We’re going to have to go do something about it.

“No one else can do it but us. No one else can do it for us. We’re the only guys in the locker room. No one else is putting on the uniform. It’s only us. It’s up to us to do something about it.”
