Video shows firefighter making incredible catch to save child from apartment bla…

As a mother of triplets and a firefighter, Capt. Jackie Peckrul was well-prepared to make the catch of a lifetime — even if she needed

During a massive fire Jan. 3 in Dekalb County, Ga., that displaced 80 people and required a dozen rescues, Peckrul was planning on climbing a ladder to meet a family and their eight children on the third floor, but the fierce flames made for risky improvisation.

The parents threw one of their older children to a Capt. Scott Stroup, a moment captured in helmet-cam video that was released Tuesday. (See that video in the player above).

The parents then tossed their blanket-wrapped baby to Peckrul.

“That was the only thing running through my mind… ‘Lord, let me catch this baby,'” Peckrul told Fox 5 Atlanta.

She made the catch safely, of course, and got back to the work of putting out the fire.

“There’s no better feeling in the world,” Peckrul said. “Never want to see any parent lose a child.”
