Formula One champion Mercedes is preparing for the upcoming 2020 season with unveiled black-liveried cars on Monday to give the F1 champion Mercedes a message to the Motorsport world and a public pledge to make it even better.
Mercedes has traditionally raced in Formula One with a silver color car, but given the ‘end racism’ in the aura these days, it will change to a Formula One race to race in a black car.
The team said that the Black Lives Matter movement “shed a light on how much we need new measures and actions in the fight against racism and all forms of discrimination.”
On Sunday Britain’s world champion Lewis Hamilton and Finnish teammate, Valtteri Bottas participated in the new opening Austrian Grand Prix.
Mercedes team chief Toto Wolff said in a statement, “Racism and discrimination have no place in our society, our sport or our team.”
“We want to use our voice to speak for respect and equality, and to reflect our commitment to greater diversity within our team and the Silver Arrow race in Black will be applicable to our sport for the entire 2020 season.
Mercedes said that only 3% of their employees belong to the minority ethnic, while the number of women is 12%.

The team plans to start a diversity and inclusion program before the end of the season as they improve on those numbers and encourage those under-represented in Formula One.
Hamilton, a six-time Formula One champion, said: “This is an important step; with its use, we educate ourselves whether you are a person, brand or company to make real meaningful changes to ensure equality and inclusivity.”
Since the traditional Australian opener was canceled in March, Formula One due hard-hit by COVID-19.
